Details of Districts in Nagaland

Chumukedima

Chumukedima is a Government notified town of Dimapur district in the state of Nagaland. The town is located 14 Km away from Dimapur, on National Highway – 29, situated in the foothills of Naga Hills. Chumukedima served as the first district headquarters to the then Naga Hills District of Assam during 19th century of British rule. A tourist village on the top of a hill projects a birds eye view of the whole district of Dimapur and even of Karbi-Anglong, District of Assam. Many waterfalls are also located in and around this tourist attraction.
With an area of 1, 35, 12, 341.1 Sq m and population of 25, 885 (as per 2011 census) Chumukedima is touted as the fastest growing urban landscape today. Accordingly, the quantum of waste generation has also increased considerably making the task of managing wastes a challenging task. To address this problem necessitates the implementation of solid waste management which would not only be appropriate for its locale but effective as well.
